Scot Hansen’s HorseThink™ Keeping You Safe

The horse is unique.  It stands alone at the top of the animal kingdom, for no other animal has done as much for mankind as the mighty horse.

Some would argue that the dog leads this catagory, and while certainly popular, and making one of the best companion animals in the world, I am not so sure the dog has done more for mankind than the horse.  Here's why...

For more than six thousand years the horse has been used to help  mankind do everything he has needed to do.  In fact, until the advent of the engine, there was no other animal that did as much  as the horse.  There is a reason that an engines power output is stated in horsepower.

You see it was horsepower (literally) that moved the world for many years.  Horses pulled carts, plows, wagons, buggies, and anything with wheels.  They pulled logs from forests, and they pulled ships through canals.   They were lowered into  mines, and placed  on ships to the new world.  They pulled up stumps, pulled fire wagons, and carried doctors to people's homes.  Horses were riddden into battle and changed the way man waged war.  It was said at one time that no army could withstand the charge of heavy cavalry.  They have been used in every major war including World War I and World War II, and I cannot imagine the courage a horse must have had in order to race into battle with guns being fired all around it.

There is no other animal that gives us so much, yet has the capability of taking away our lives as easily as swatting a fly.   It is a good thing they like most of us.  They are kind and benevolent to the human, but we can't always say we have been the same to them.

Horses have always been respected for what they could do, and feared for the power they could generate.  Whether you witness a horse kick something, witness a horse race into battle , watch one pull a stump from the ground, or sit atop one at full gallop, you can feel and see the power of the horse.

We owe them a lot.  This site is dedicated to them, past and present, and into the future.

Safe Rides,

Scot
